Live On is a live concert recording dedicated to the life and memory of Joshua Bell (1996-2021). It consists of original compositions and arrangements of Jazz standards. Listeners are taken on a journey through time, space, rain and pain, emerging joyously in a dance that celebrates life. Yang pays homage to significant contributors to her journey in jazz thus far. Special thanks to my trio partners, Ori and Mitch, without whom these compositions and performances would not be what you hear today.
*Purchase includes complete concert video access

"LIVE ON" IS A LIVE CONCERT RECORDING DEDICATED TO THE LIFE AND MEMORY OF JOSHUA BELL (1996-2021). It was presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for my Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Piano Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It was held at the iconic Smith Memorial Hall, Room 25, at the stage where Josh and I had first met in 2019 - and on the piano where I saw him perform for the last time. Wake Me Again "…wake me again…again…again.. If you’d be the one…Wake Me Again” A frozen heart, slowly defrosting. ...Written by Dr. Joy Yang, Champaign, Illinois, December 2023 Edited by Professor Amy Hassinger and Dr. Jeffrey Magee, Champaign, Illinois, February 2024 Liner notes continued in CD/digital download. |
